Jack Pulwers ended 2006 with a broad-ranging interview in national television C -Span on Book TV Weekend with best-selling author, Alex Kershaw . As Pulwers hosted Kershaw on the C-Span program, "After Words," he garnered information about the Ameican heroes Kershaw wrote about in his books, "The Bedford Boys," "THe Longest Winter" and "The Few." All of these books represented the stories about the young Americans who willingly and knowingly sacrificed their lives in World War II on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, in the great Battle of the Bulge as prisoners of war, and in the air with the RAF during the early days of the Battle of Britain in the time of the Nazi air blitz over London (1940). In both the D-Day landings and in the Battle of Britain none of the youthful American fighter-volunteers ever came back.


Dr. Pulwers appeared before the Industrial War College at Fort McNair, Washington, DC, and at the Army War College in Carlisle PA.

August 29, 2006, Dr. Pulwers appeared before the USMCCA Marine Combat Correspondents Association.
Sept. 2 Dr. Pulwers appeared before the United States Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association National Conference at the McLean Hilton to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the end of World War II.

Dr Jack Pulwers was selected to receive the distinguished Catholic University of America Alumni Achievement Award for 2006. The prestigious, coveted award was given on October 13, 2006 by the President of Catholic University at the Catholic University Student Center in Washington, DC.


On September 13, 2005, Dr. Pulwers chaired a panel of distinguished reporters of World War II at the National Press Club, entitled, "World War II: They Were There," The event was sponsored by the Oral History Committee of the National Press Club.

In a wide-ranging discussion on press coverage of World War II, November 11, 2005, former Armed Forces Radio correspondent Pulwers appeared on National Television on C-Span's "Closeup" program.
On February 7, 2006, in another televised appearance, Dr. Pulwers headed a special panel held at the National Press Club, "Covering Katrina," consisting of reporters who were on the scene during one of the worst storms in U.S. history. This effort of the Oral History Committee panel is being considered for a national news award. Two members of the panel, Dave Meeks, City Editor and John McQuaid, Washington Correspondent, of "The New Orleans Times Picayune" were part of the staff that won the Pulitzer Prize for their work in Katrina storm coverage.

On March 14, 2006, Pulwers appeared before an overflow audience at the National Association of Active and Retired Government Employees (NARFE) in Fairfax City, Virginia, and spoke about World War II.
On March 21, 2006, Dr. Pulwers interviewed columnist Art Buchwald in Washington, DC .

Dr. Pulwers addressed 50 elder hostel members sponsored by the C-Span Close Up Foundation on "The Lasting Impact of World War II." The event took place on September 13th as part of the continuing Elder Hostel appearances made by Dr. Pulwers . These talks also included a special talk on World War II and embedded reporters before a Corcoran Gallery Audience in Washington, DC.

Dr Pulwers has made many special appearances across the country with dynamic accounts of World War II History and journalism history. He has also given some dynamic lectures on his career in journalism, teaching as well as news and documentary production with ABC and as Chief of Broadcasting at Armed Forces Radio and Television service.

At the National Archives in the Jefferson Room a lecture for teachers and other professionals on WWI and WWII press history. At the National Press Club Book Rap to mark the introduction of the book "The Press of Battle" and its first book signing.

Appeared before the famous Blue-Gray Veterans of Foreign Wars of Fairfax on World War II.
The American Legion Post No. 20 at the National Press Club on the "Press off Battle."
C-Span Television nationally televised on "Close Up" Foundation Program on the World War II Memorial.
Hollin Hall History Club in Alexandria Virginia on memories of the depression, WWII and "The Press of Battle."
The Falls Church Historical Association on World War I and World War II.
At the Overseas Press Club of America in New York City luncheon on a variety of subjects on journalism and The Press of Battle.
At the Falls Church Rotary Club on WWII journalism.
Diplomatic and Consular Officers Retired Dacor Bacon House in Washington DC lecture and panel appearance on the press, World War II journalism and personal experiences.
Channel Ten Fairfax two appearances: 1) on "Out of the Past" with moderator Robert McAllister and 2) on the National Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) program in discussion on his career, history of journalism, public affairs, broadcasting and WWII.
At the World War II Memorial sponsored by the Library of Congress and "The Stars and Stripes" Newspapers on a panel concerning reporting in the war and personal experiences.
In Fayetteville, North Carolina at Barnes and Noble bookstores on a review of "The Press of Battle."
At the National Press Club Book Fair on "The Press of Battle" and was televised for an interview shown several times on C-Span TV book reviews.
Taped Interview for the Library of Congress at the WWII Memorial on Dr. Pulwers life and times with his experiences in news reporting, and World War II.
Taped three hour interview before the joint journalism schools at Indiana and Purdue Universities to be made into a documentary for students.
Taped two hour interview by the Oral History Committee at the National Press Club for the Eric Frieidheim Library archives based on his life and career in journalism.
At the 2005 CBI reunion of WWII held at Fort Myer on the history of the CBI in World War II.
At the Towers Country Club of Long Island Dr Pulwers lectured to retirees and other senior citizens on the depression and American History.
Book signing at the Department of Defense Army Public Affairs on "The Press of Battle."
Appeared at several senior citizen hostel programs for C-Span "Close Up" Foundation on career, life and times in the depression, WWII and "The Press of Battle."
Lectured and appeared in Shreveport, Louisiana on the occasion of Dr. Pulwers' election to the Byrd High School Hall of Fame
Spoke at the Circle of Friends for Homeless veterans in Arlington, Virginia on the meaning of public service.
Appeared on a journalism panel before the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association in Las Vegas and at San Diego.
Spoke to the European and Pacific Stars and Stripes Association in Nashville, Tennessee on WWII through Vietnam coverage.
